- A superior Aspheric semi-finished Single Vision lens, available in 9 base curves
- Flatter base curves yield a more appealing lens
- Designed for widest viewing area with greatest lens thickness reduction
- Fourth generation IMAGE® progressive lens in 4 base curves and 1.00-3.00 add range
|
Prescription Range
+6.00D to -11.00D, total prescription power expressed as spherical power. This total power calculation may include up to 5 diopters of cylinder.

Impact Resistance:
Trilogy® lenses have been formulated to meet or exceed applicable impact resistance
requirements when laboratory finished as set forth in FDR CFR 801.410, ANSI Z80.1 and
ANSI Z87.1. Any modification of Trilogy® lenses other than normal surfacing or edging
may adversely affect impact performance characteristics. Additional coating of Trilogy®
lenses may adversely affect the impact resistance performance. "Impact Resistance" lenses
are neither shatter proof nor unbreakable.
|
Chemical Resistance:
Excellent. Unaffected by common chemicals and solvents.
|
UV Protection:
Blocks 100% UVA and UVB.
|
Fitting Recommendations:
Aspheric Single Vision: For best optics, provide laboratory with distance PD and fitting
height 2.0mm below center of pupil, measuring from the deepest point of the frame.
Image® Progressive: Distance PD and fitting height of center of pupil measured from
deepest point of frame.
Incorporate standard 4 to 10° of pantascopic tilt, and equal vertex distance. Use care
to balance prism thinning, if used, for best optical performance.
|
Frame Selection:
For maximum performance, select a frame that allows the patients eye to be centered within
the lens area. Trilogy® lenses can be used with small frames, rimless, and three-piece frames.
|
Lens Treatments:
- Front side coating: Durable front side hard coat provided.
- Back side coating: Trilogy® lenses are more scratch-resistant than many plastic lens
materials regularly dispensed without a back coating. However, for maximum scratch
resistance, a back side coating may be applied.
- Anti-reflective coatings: These coatings work well with Trilogy® lenses.
- Tinting: Please refer to "TINTING TIPS" below.
- Rolled and Polished edges: The unique molecular structure of Trilogy® lenses gives a
superior jewel-like appearance to edges that are rolled and polished.

TRILOGY® Material Specific Processing Tips
The following should be used as a guideline as different equipment may require slightly
different setting and times. These suggestions reflect a compilation from the following
types of generators; Coburn 113, Coburn 1008, Gerber-Coburn SG8 and Optronics generators.
|
| Minimum Thickness
Trilogy® lenses can be processed to a minimum thickness of 1.0mm and is compliant with
the FDA dress eyewear impact requirements.
|
Surface Layout
Optical center should be placed at the geometric center of the lens.
|
Blocking - Alloy
Use large 50 mm blocks to provide adequate lens support during the generating process.
Maintain alloy temperature of 120° 122°F. Allow lenses to cool for at least
30 minutes prior to generating.
|
Blocking One Step (wax)
Follow manufacturers recommendations. Cool blocked lenses from 12 to 18 minutes.
|
Generating
Reduce stock removal to approximately 1 to 2 millimeter per sweep, with a final of .5mm.
|
Fining
Using two-step, each fine should be from 1.5 minutes to 2 minutes each. Recommended
pads are 280 grit for first fine, followed by a 1000grit for the second fine.
| First Fine |
| Pad |
280 grit Black (Poly type 7 leaf) |
| Pressure |
16-18psi |
| Time |
1 minute 30 seconds to 2 minutes |
| Coolant |
60F or less |
|
| Second Fine |
| Pad |
1000 grit Brown (Poly type 7 leaf) |
| Pressure |
16-18psi |
| Time |
1 minute 30 seconds to 2 minutes |
| Coolant |
60F or less |
|
|
Polishing
Use equivalent polishing times and conditions for polycarbonate, 5 to 7 minutes
depending on pressures and polish being used.

| Pressure |
16-18psi |

|
De-blocking
|
Step-One
- Use the Step-One deblocking station to remove the Freebond block.
- Use the Lens Washing Station to remove the remaining Freebond from the lens surface.
|
Alloy Type
- A knock-off technique is recommended.
- Peel off the tape and wash the lens in warm water with a mild liquid detergent. Rinse with fresh running warm water.
|
Edging
Trilogy® works well with most dry or wet edgers.
|
Drilling
Ensure that drill bits used are extremely sharp and drill at slower speed as for polycarbonate.
|
Cleaning and Tinting
Do not use acetone or alcohol to clean the lens prior or after tinting. Clean with warm soapy water.
|
Tinting Tips
- Trilogy® blocks 100% of UVA and UVB so no additional UV treatment is needed.
- For best results, apply a tintable back surface hard-coating prior to tinting. But if you must tint the back surface of the lens directly, follow the procedure below:
- Recommended tinting temperature is approximately 170°F to 175°F.
- Tint Trilogy® in 4 minute intervals, removing the lens each time and rinsing it in warm running water or a water/ detergent bath. Allow lens to cool between insertions.
- Repeat this process until desired color density is achieved.
